| The
Sikhote-Alin shower of 1947 took place in a remote area of eastern
Russia and was the largest single meteoritic event documented
in modern times. It is an extremely rare witnessed fall iron.
Once relatively available in the marketplace, intensive hunting
at the fall site has resulted in the area being completely hunted
out, and no new specimens now make it into collectors' hands.
The specimen offered here is described as shrapnel.
These remarkable meteorites literally exploded during flight,
resulting in a unique twisted, angular shape. You can really see
the fury and power that caused these meteorites to fragment and
burn in our atmosphere.
This great meteorite collectible comes with excellent documentation:
a specimen identification card, an information sheet about the
Sikhote-Alin meteorite fall, a Meteorite Men Certificate of Authenticity,
and an exclusive color photograph of the Meteorite Men,
personally signed by Steve and Geoff.
NOTES AND DIMENSIONS
Included in this wonderful collectors' set is a display stand

you will receive.
ABOUT THE METEORITE MEN
Geoff of Meteorite Men is a meteorite specialist, photographer
and science writer and his meteorite hunting articles and photographs
have appeared in Meteorite magazine, Astronomy, Rock
& Gem, Sky & Telescope, Wired, Geotimes, Seed,
Sci Q, and many other national and international publications.
He is also a fellow of the world famous Explorer's Club.
Steve of Meteorite Men stunned the scientific community
in the fall of 2005 when he discovered a 1,430-lb pallasite meteorite
buried in a cornfield near Brenham, Kansas. It is the largest
of its type ever found in North America. Pallasites are unique
among meteorites as they are composed of iron-nickel and olivine
crystals (the gemstone peridot).
The two friends have made documentaries about meteorite hunting
for Discovery, National Geographic, The History Channel, PBS,
and The Travel Channel as well as co-hosting Science Channel's
Meteorite Men adventure series.
